One of the largest and most beautifully preserved of the Sierra de Francia villages, La Alberca is a historic and harmonious huddle of narrow alleys flanked by gloriously ramshackle houses built of stone, wood beams and plaster. Construction dates carved into door lintels typically show late 18th century. The pretty-as-a-postcard Plaza Mayor hosts a Saturday morning market.
