One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world (since at least 5000 BC), Byblos offers a remarkable layering of civilizations: Phoenician temples, Roman colonnaded streets, a Crusader castle and a picturesque fishing harbour all within walking distance. The adjacent old souqs are alive with craftspeople and the ancient harbour still shelters fishing boats.
