The square where 1970s punk squatters lived is now where Prenzlauer Berg parents buy artisan cheese on Saturday mornings — Berlin's gentrification in one beautiful contradiction.

One of Berlin's most upmarket weekly farmers markets on leafy Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauer Berg, running Thursdays (noon–7pm, all organic) and Saturdays (9am–4pm). Stalls offer velvety gorgonzola, juniper-berry smoked ham, homemade pesto and other artisan produce. A children's playground sits nearby, making it a neighbourhood hub as much as a market.
